Q: Who are you?
A: Tiago Pereira. I'm a 23-year-old portuguese licensee in Informatics @
FEUP.
I´m currently working as an IT teacher in a private school, teaching 9th to 11th grade kids.
I've always lived in
Meinedo, Portugal.
Q: What's this site about?
A: It's part portfolio part blog (since everyone has one of those nowadays why not have one of my own). Actually it's a place where to expand my current showcase (resident @
deviantArt and
flickr) and where to place thoughts, experiments and results concerning my photographic and design endeavors :p
Q: The photo on the left, what's that?
A: That's a train and some landscape (reversed of course). You can see it for yourself at Portugal -> Oporto -> S.Bento train station. Make sure you tilt your head though. Or you can see the whole scene
here.
Q: For how long have you been photographing things and people?
A: Well, since I got my first digital camera back in 2004 (previous experiences with film don't really count), a Sony DSC-V1, fine piece of equipment by the way.
Along the way decided I needed something more (something faster, more accurate, that didn't make me loose too many shots due to shutter lag) and so I bought myself a Canon EOS 350D back in May 2006, a finer piece of equipment by the way.
My main body is now a Canon 40D purchased on December, 2007.
Q: and designing... stuff?
Recently I began designing for more than just kicks, doing some commissioned posters for my faculty's students association.
Prior to that, nothing much, not even contests. My very first experience with graphics was with MS Paint back in Windows 3.1 (I had a ZX Spectrum but having to program graphics for that thing wasn't much fun) working my way through Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop and Illustrator.
In recent years I've developed a strong interest in vector graphics and have been learning and practicing with satisfactory results... :P
Q: What software did you use to create this website of yours?
A: The (few) graphics were created using Adobe Photoshop CS2 and the rest was built upon TextPattern, a really good CMS (Content Management System). This website is also hosted @
nearlyfreespeech.net, go and check it out.
Q: So, you're portuguese right, why isn't this written in your language?
A: So you can read it! :P Kidding... I suppose my audience is mostly foreign so I choose to keep this as international as possible. And if you're portuguese I sure hope you know some english otherwise start learning.
