Cleaning fingerprints from a 5Dmk2 mirror
Was about to buy Eclipse cleaning fluid to get rid of some fingerprints on my 5D mk2 mirror when I came across a post somewhere (google it) that the Eclipse fluid might just be high grade methanol. Since I happened to have 90% methanol I decided to give it a try. Grabbed a couple of q tips and did it. Tried it first on the edge of the mirror and seeing that it worked cleaned the remaining surface.
Worked just fine but left a few small specs of residue. The fingerprints (don’t know how they ended up in there) were causing severe light scattering on the viewfiender and probably messing up the focusing. Not there anymore!
If you come across this post and decide to do it yourself I am in no way liable! You’ve been warned!
I should have taken before/after shots…
London Camera Gear
My camera gear during my London visit. Inside the Skin 50 pouch I carried the Zenitar 16mm and the Canon 50mm f1.4 as well as the Pixel Pocket Rocket card holder, extra battery and other assorted items. I used it strapped to my belt on the right side and it’s very comfortable and convenient. It’s my most common gear loadout. Mounted on the 5D mk2 is a 24-105 f4 IS, my primary lens.

On my flight to London. Part of a series of photos being published here. And being is the correct term… too lazy to edit them all in one go. Perhaps its for the best, giving me more time to reflect on which photos I should publish.
